The April Edit With Maoliosa Murray

This September, the founder of luxe lifestyle brand Maoliosa, who represent? The Rug Company, Linley, Jonathan Adler and Bethan Gray in Ireland, will open a stand alone store in Dublin 6. Here she?shares her list of places to go and names to know for the month ahead…?

EAT
Fia Caf? in Rathgar is my favourite place to eat right now. This teeny eatery has become a neighbourhood treasure, serving fresh Irish organic produce and the best coffee around, their mushrooms on toast are to die for. On weekends, expect a serious queue out the door.

STAY
I’m looking forward to visiting Soho House Barcelona this spring. The guys at Soho House can do no wrong in my book, each venue around the globe is perfectly located, feels like a home from home and is a great spot for business too. Each outpost has its own look too. In Barcelona, it’s all about the roof-top pool? pure escapism with the city below ready to explore.

BOOK
I recently discovered an amazing cultural collective called Nomad. A collaboration between Giorgio Pace (curator at both the Venice Biennale and the Guggenheim in NYC) and his business partner Nicolas Bellavance-Lecompte – an architect and co-founder of the Carwan Gallery in Beirut. Together they have created a bespoke travelling gallery space exhibiting carefully curated pieces from specialist galleries in standout buildings around the world. This April (27-30) find them in the stunning Villa la Vigie, Monaco, where they will be featuring the work of India Mahdavi, one of my favourite furniture designers. Villa La Vigie is an historic Grimaldi house, a stunning neoclassical villa overlooking the Mediterranean sea; it was Karl Lagerfeld’s home for ten years. Now you have the perfect excuse to visit for a snoop.

BUY
Currently I have a thing for serpents, not live ones mind, but I can’t get enough serpent motifs, whether in fashion, textiles or jewellery. This season I’m coveting the Merveilles serpent print red leather shoulder bag by Gucci, perfect for strolling around Barcelona. I’m also a big fan of photographer and artist Guido Mocafico’s work. I would love a print from his Serpens series collection, especially the lime green one, it would add the perfect touch of luxe rock and roll to any room – my perfect style aesthetic.

FOLLOW

I can’t get enough of Fiona Leahy on Instagram. She’s a hugely talented London-based Irish events organiser and designer, her imagination is endless. I love hosting dinner parties and coming up with ideas for dressing the room and tables. Fiona’s use of colour, texture and flowers is stunning. Her recent dinner in Moscow for Aquazzurra has to be one of my favourites, it featured an Yves Klein blue mirrored tabletop that stretched for miles, with one continuous centrepiece of white parrot tulips, Prussian blue porcelain, Ikat print napkins with matching chair seats, and the place cards were embossed with a gold serpent. My dream.

SHOP

Colette in Paris is my guilty pleasure, I love a good concept store, and Colette is still the original and best in my book. I also recently discovered the new Summerill and Bishop store on Elizabeth Street, in London’s Belgravia, they stock the most beautiful hand-painted table linens, and have collaborated on collections with jewellery designers Solange Azagury-Partridge and Carolina Bucci – both favourites of mine.
