What we’re looking forward to in this year’s Ideal Home Show

With autumn definitely here, our evenings are getting shorter, and cosy nights in become more and more appealing. Since we’ll be spending a lot of time at home in the coming months, it’s the perfect time to give it a little spruce up. To get inspiration from extensions to finishing touches, we’ll be paying a visit to the permanent tsb Ideal Home Show in the RDS this October bank holiday weekend. As Ireland’s largest home improvement event, you’ll find advice and ideas for every aspect of creating your ideal home. Here’s a sneak preview of what we’re particularly excited for.

Ideal Home Show

Cúl Art Showhouse

To celebrate Bliain na Gaeilge, a showhouse designed by Róisín Murphy will make use of the incredible materials from all around Ireland. Róisín’s design brings art, history, furniture and design together to illustrate the best of Irish culture, and has a crisp, modern feel to it, showing how we can fuse traditional materials with contemporary design.

Ideal Home Show

Wild Atlantic Coastal Garden

Accompanying the showhouse will be this beautiful garden created by Michael O’Reilly MGLDA of The Garden Shop and Outlook Gardens, inspired by a traditional costal Irish cottage in the west of Ireland. Nature will take the lead, with grasses and hardy plant pushing through the sand and stony foreshore. There’s even a traditional Irish Currach nearby with lobster pots and nets strewn around.

Ideal Home Show

Chefs LIVE Theatre in association with SuperValu

A new addition for this year, the Chefs Live Theatre will feature a series of cooking demonstrations over the event. SuperValu brand ambassadors Niall Breslin, Martin Shanahan, Kevin Dundon and Sharon Hearne Smith will all be sharing tips and tricks for creating delicious meals, a great way to take a little break in the middle of your day of browsing the show.

Ideal Home Show

Colourtrend Interior Design Forum

Returning to the show due to popular demand, the forum will see seven of Ireland’s leading interior designers create inspirational room sets to help you pick the best look for your home. Each designer will also be at the show, who along with Colourtrend staff can advise on choosing a colour palette, as well as the perfect finish for your room. The designers taking part are Abbeyfeale Interior Design, Architectural Spaces, Dan Éire Design, Drennan Interiors, Hedgeroe, Rachel Hobbs Designs and Xiu Feng Shui.

Ideal Home Show

The permanent tsb Centre

The title show sponsor will be on hand throughout the show to help with the financial side of things, from mortgages to home insurance and loans for home improvement. Expect plenty to be happening throughout the weekend at their stand at N60.

What’s even better is that the team can approve mortgages and home improvement loans in principle in just 15 minutes, so there’s no need to delay on all the plans you’ll have after visiting the show.

Interiors & Design Theatre

Television’s Quantity Surveyor Patricia Power will take centre stage at the Interiors & Design Theatre on Saturday and Sunday to give advice on how to transform a house into your ideal home.

The Interiors & Design Theatre brings excitement and action against a backdrop of contemporary living. The Theatre covers home makeovers, interior design trends and décor, new home design and build, extending your home, colour choices, lighting, upcycling, home storage, home renovation top tips, financing your home build or purchase and much more.

Ideal Home Show

Home Renovations, Extensions and Architects

Once you’ve decided on improving your home, you’ll need experts to help you realise your dream. The show will give you access to a full range of suppliers to take your project from start to finish, and a series of talks over the four-day event will answer all your questions about the process.

Registered architects from the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland (RIAI) will be at the show, eager to assist you with your home renovations. Some of the architects taking part in this Autumn’s show include Green Build, Ronan Rose Roberts, Circa Design, Optimise Design, The Architects, JE Architecture, Fergus Flanagan and Renova.

Log on to idealhome.ie to secure your tickets to the unmissable permanent tsb Ideal Home Show, which runs from October 26-29. Visit their FacebookTwitter and Instagram for more updates.
