Watch: 95 Year Old Lonely Man Will Make You Cry Like A Baby

Most of the time, when we say we ‘can’t cope’ we’re just being melodramatic, or maybe we’re ovulating, but today, when we say we literally cannot COPE, boy do we mean it. Here’s a story that will make you weep like Bambi unless, of course, you’re devoid of a heart. As reported by Buzzfeed, last week a 95 year old man phoned into a BBC radio show saying that he was lonely (we’re DYING) and that he missed his wife (that’s it, we’re DONE) so, being sweet-natured folks, they invited him on the show to keep him company. You can listen to his phone call below, during which he gets a little choked up and starts to cry.

If that didn’t kill you, the story of him and his wife will. Though he’s 95 years of age, they married just last year after being close friends for thirty years. His then friend needed some looking after so he took her under his wing, and from there, a romance blossomed. Recently, she took a bad fall, and has since been admitted to a nursing home because Bill wasn’t able to care for her without extra help. He visits her every single day, naturally.

“Every day is hell” without her, he says. “It hurts, but that’s life.”

A big fan of Alex Dyke’s midmorning show for years, Bill decided to reach out. “I listen to you every day”, he tells Dyke. As soon as the radio show’s team had heard of Bill’s story, they fetched a taxi straight away to get him into the station where he fast became the star of their show (and of our hearts too).

Speaking exclusively to Buzzfeed, producer of the show Chris Hitchings said:
?He called up to say he was lonely and he missed [his wife], I don’t think he had anyone else to talk to.” Naturally, it wasn’t long before other fans of the show were phoning in to talk to this real life answer to Pixar’s Up granddad. ?He’s such a nice guy and was lovely.”

Bill phoned BBC Radio Solent. He was upset, lonely and missing his wife.Alex decided to invite him in.We sent a cab to pick him up, have a listen to what happened next.
