Listen To The Intervarsity Poetry Slam Here

On March 29th in NCAD, Inter-Varsity Slam and Poetry Ireland / ?igse ?ireann will be partnering up to present to you the finest student spoken word acts from nine colleges around Ireland. The poets will be poetry slam battling it out for the top prize, college pride and for the art of slam poetry itself. This is a free event which is also BYOB. Doors at 6pm, with the show beginning at 6.15. Considering the talent of competitors, this evening promises to provide a high standard of performance poetry. For anybody who has never been to a spoken word event before, this would be a good place to start! We are dedicated to providing a platform for new poets and bringing spoken word to new audiences. Now in its fourth year, the popular?Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt will take place this coming Easter weekend on Friday 14th and Saturday 15th of April at Merrion?Square, Dublin 2, to raise vital funds to support Barnardos. This years’ ambassador is Samantha Mumba and families can take part in music workshops, face painting, a petting zoo and plenty of games in the Cadbury Easter Bunny Village over the two days. The collaborative studio Jill & Gill?? made up of illustrator Jill Deering and printmaker Gillian Henderson – celebrate their first birthday in business together with the launch of their first solo show dedicated to fashion icon Iris Apfel this coming Wednesday, March 29th to April 2nd. The first exhibition for the duo, will see them design and create 25 unique screen-printed artworks. The prints, a portrait of Iris Apfel, will embody her colourful style and sophistication, with a playfull’sense of humour to match. Each limited edition print will be printed on 300gsm cotton paper, with each layer of the image screen-printed in a multitude of finishes and hand embellishments, informed by her eclectic permutations of designer clothing and exotic accessories.?A drinks reception will be held on the opening night with thanks to Hendrick’s Gin &Fever-Tree with tasty nibbles from ?PROPERCORN. Celebrate Ireland’s rich design heritage with Clover Rua at Kildare Village tomorrow, Sunday, March 26th. Learn about the art of screen printing in a series of exciting and interactive demonstrations taking place at S? Collective in Kildare Village on Saturday?25 March, from 2 pm?to?4 pm. Established in 2013 by Dublin based design duo Anita Elliott and Martin Gleeson, Clover Rua’s art is inspired by the iconic detail and strong guilds of Irish cast iron craftsmen who have left their indelible mark on Irish architecture; from railings to gates, windows, lamp posts and bridges. Clover Rua’s demonstrations will be held as part of S? Collective’s ?From?The?Maker? series, which will see Anita and Martin demonstrate the screen printing and design process.?Guests in attendance will learn how to make their own prints, which they can take home with them.
