Special guests attended the ‘The Lifestyle of Elizabeth Taylor’ exhibition at the Museum of Style Icons at Newbridge Silverware, Newbridge, Co. Kildare.

Opening on Tuesday, September 10 (and running until October 6), the exhibition showcases various garments and personal jewellery belonging to Hollywood icon, Elizabeth Taylor.

Ann Doyle, Michele McGrath, Leanne Woodfull and Aileen O’Brien are just some of the guests who were in attendance at the launch.

The collection

Some of the pieces on show include the star’s most unusual jewellery, garments and film costumes; some of which were designed by Christian Dior, Nolan Miller, Valentino, Versace, and many more.

One of the most important garments in the exhibition is the costume Taylor wore in her last ever film, which was a Nolan Miller purple silk jacket with rabbit fur and matching blouse and pants. The actress wore it in the made-for-television film These Old Broads.

Other special garments include a Valentino dress and jacket in pale pink linen, as well as a Valentino Couture maroon vest and pants ensemble worn in Night Watch.

What’s more, the collection includes several pieces worn by Taylor that were symbolic of her astrological sign, Pisces. For example, there is a pair of dangling fish earrings, adorned with multi-coloured beads and rhinestones; a pounded brass choker with two fish pendants with red glass eyes, and a silver-tone multi-coloured rhinestones fish ring.

The jewellery collection also features a pair of extra-large sterling silver round hoops worn by the star in her appearance on the Oprah Winfrey Show in 1993.

The must-see exhibition is free to enter and runs until October 6, 2019, before the pieces go to auction on December 6-8, 2019 in Los Angeles, California. There they will be sold by Julien’s Auctions.
