After weeks of speculation, the birth of royal Baby Sussex has finally been confirmed. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s first child is here. This is everything we know so far…

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s baby has been born, the royal family has confirmed. For weeks, fans speculated about whether or not Baby Sussex had arrived, and today Buckingham Palace has confirmed the news.

In a statement shared on Instagram, Sussex Royal said, “We are pleased to announce that their royal highnesses the Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their firstborn child in the early morning on May 6, 2019.

“Their royal highnesses’ son weighs 7lbs, 3oz.,” they added.

Baby Sussex

Baby Sussex is now seventh-in-line to the throne of England; coming next-in-line after his dad Prince Harry, and before the Queen’s second son Prince Andrew.

What’s more, it is unlikely he will have the title of ‘prince’.

The Queen confirmed in 2012 that all of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s children will be called prince or princess, but the same announcement has not been made for Harry’s children. Instead, Meghan and Harry’s baby will likely be given the title of Earl.

Baby Sussex will grow up at Frogmore Cottage, Meghan and Harry’s new marital home on the grounds of Windsor Castle. The property, which dates back to the 19th century, has recently been renovated and boasts a state-of-the-art nursery.

It’s believed Meghan’s mum, Doria Ragland, will stay with the couple at Frogmore Cottage in these early days of parenthood.

Speculation

For weeks, fans of the royal family watched with eagle-eyes for any sign that Meghan had given birth.

On April 23, her mother Doria arrived in London from America. On April 26, an ambulance was spotted outside their home at Windsor Castle. Then, on April 30, it was reported Meghan’s in-laws (including the Queen), paid a quiet visit.

At long last, the speculation is over. The young royal is here. Welcome to the world, Baby Sussex.
