Is This Parisian Apartment Perfection? Step Inside A Fabulous French Family Flat

French interior architect and designer Anne-Sophie Pailleret has created a subtly luxe yet utterly liveable Parisian apartment for a family with two little children…

A mere hop from Place Charles de Gaulle, this is the amazingly well-appointed and enviably elegant apartment 150-square-metre apartment dreamed up by renowned interior designer Anne-Sophie Pailleret for a family of four. “They gave me carte blanche,” smiles Anne-Sophie. While the family lived in one part, she rebuilt the other, and gave it back to them room by room. “Week by week, they got another surprise.”

Interior designer Anne-Sophie proudly sits in the apartment she designed.

Her idea was to create a “wide-open home” to show off the owners’ chic art and furnishings (check out the Murano black glass lamps on the vintage 1950s buffet), while still being conducive to cosy family life. Anne-Sophie has chosen a darkly opulent palette that is rich in green-blue tones – tantalising teals and nautical hues flash dramatically – offset by a welcoming palette of warm neutrals, so nothing screams ‘do not touch’.

The 1950s oak round library shelving unit was found at a Parisian fleamarket. The teal sofa is by Caravane, covered in Dedar fabric.

There’s a definite overriding mid-century aesthetic (we love the black opaline and walnut pull-out tables – 1950s again – sourced at Paris’ Paul Bert fleamarket). You can’t help but envy the kids that get to grow up here…

The living-room doors open onto a beautiful balcony in typical Parisian style.
