Quirky, cosy, and, best of all, eco-friendly, Anthea?Howbert and Tig Mays, of Howbert and Mays garden shop, have created a hug of a house surrounded by beautiful Wicklow woodland views.
?From the outset, Tig and I were more concerned with how well the house would fit into the setting ??rather than how fancy the design would be,? says Anthea. After much planning with their architects?Fitzpatrick and May (Tig’s brother and his wife), they decided on a timber-frame house built by Irish Eco Homes.
Inside, their home is an ode to their love of nature and their passion for the environment. Everything is either inherited, found or upcycled. Old boxes are used as shelves, a vintage suitcase doubles as a coffee table, and momentoes from their life and travels are lovingly displayed. ?We like to be surrounded by things that have a personal resonance for us? Anthea explains.
