Check Out These Dublin-Made Dolls We’re Currently Idolising

Dubliner Kathryn Davey spent 12 years in the US honing her craft and selling her handmade toys and children’s accessories in trendy boutiques from California to New York?and?also further afield to Toronto and Tokyo. Now back home in Dublin, she is causing a stir with these adorable dolls…

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

In her latest work, Kathryn has turned towards screenprinting with these playful pillows, which are far less labour-intensive than her previous designs?(see her?Irish linen indigo-dyed dolls with handmade outfits, which would?put even the chicest street styler to shame, and the fabulous felt-caped Super Ted), but have no fear ??her latest creations maintain all her characteristic charm.

Along with handmaking and designing each item, Kathryn also teaches workshops in the Japanese art of indigo dyeing known as shibori, dating back to the eighth century.

Ross + Rose Dolls, €25 each, Kathryn Davey

This latest collection, called Ross + Rose, is?a pair of adventurous rascals,?available with their superhero disguises on or off and inspired by Kathryn’s youngest daughter. A new clothing range featuring Ross and Rose was launched earlier this month, too. Screenprinted with non-toxic inks onto organic cotton, backed with linen and filled with eco-friendly fibre (soon to be replaced with pure Irish wool), these are the perfect partners in crime for any rugrat!
