Angelina and the Dress. Thoughts?

Angelina and the Dress. Thoughts?

We’re a little underwhelmed, but also impressed…

Yes, we know there are much more important issues raging in the world right now, but Angelina’s wedding dress is what’s keeping the water cooler alive. And if you haven’t seen the dress yet, how is that whole living under a rock thing working out? Earlier this week?People and Hello! revealed exclusive images of the wedding between two of the world’s most beautiful people.

The silk-satin gown is Atelier Versace and features designs and doodles by Jolie and Brad Pitt’s children. The veil was embroidered with the pictures the children had drawn by Versace master tailor Luigi Massi, according to Harper’s Bazaar. Speculation about the dress has been frenetic ever since it was revealed last week the couple had married in a secret ceremony in France, although Vogue.co.uk were on the money with their educated guess.

However, we’re a tiny bit disappointed and the office straw poll indicates an underwhelmed reception. It’s just a little bit too plain and we had such high hopes for Angelina, especially after the publicity tour for smash-hit Disney movie Maleficent where Versace dressed her in inky black creations, sumptuously beaded gowns and fitted velvet bombshell dresses.

Although perhaps we’re getting ahead of ourselves and our expectations, confusing Angelina the actress with Angelina the person. Maybe when it comes to the wedding of one of the most famous women in the world, the less outrageous the more unexpectedly personal. Jolie and Pitt’s relationship has always been characterised by their hands-on approach to parenting so it makes sense that the wedding would be so family-centric as to make the dress a representation of their now-officially unified lives.

So, beyond the dress, what other details do we know about one of the weddings of the decade? And don’t forget – Clooney’s walk up the aisle is impending.

According to People Brad hummed the bride and mother of his children up the aisle to the tune of the traditional Here Comes The Bride. Wedding bands need no longer apply. Pax baked the cake while double-jobbing as a groomsman. He and Maddox gave their mom away. Zahara and Vivienne prepped the bouquel by popping out to the garden of Chateau Miraval for freshly plucked blooms. Shiloh and Knox acted as ring bearers and provided some comic relief when they dropped one. And while Angelina’s father, the actor Jon Voight was not in attendance, the actress paid tribute to her late mother Marcheline Bertrand by wearing a gold locket with her photograph inside.

What do you think – yes to the dress? Or were you expecting something entirely different?
