American Waiter Given Life Changing Tip

American Waiter Given Life Changing Tip

We’ve all been doing our best to hold back the tears in the IMAGE.ie office this morning. No, not because it’s Monday again but because we happened to come across one of the most heartwarming stories we’ve seen in quite a while.

Brian Maixner, a 43 year old single father who has been a waiter at Wichita restaurant Doo-Dah Diner for over 20 years recently received a life-changing tip from a customer, Fred Boettcher. Why? Brian has been suffering with tooth decay for over six years now but, due to his financial situation and that of his family when he was young, has never been able to afford dental care.

Step forward Fred Boettcher. Having suffered with dental problems himself when he was young, Mr. Boettcher was enamoured with his waiter’s story and as he paid for his meal decided to give one of the most generous tips anyone has ever received. He wrote Mr. Maixne a cheque for $25,000 and told him to invest in a new pair of teeth.

?He (Mr Boettcher) had a lot of dental issues as a kid and he told me ?I can do this and I should do it. It’s so great. It’s a huge weight off of my shoulders – I just have this new appreciation for my health.? Maixner told the New York Daily News.

Brian’s employers recently posted a picture of the transformation and it really is incredible.

The story reminded us of this lovely video from American Youtubers Andrew Hales and Stuart Edge which now has us reaching for the tissues once again.

What’s the most heartwarming story you’ve seen lately?
