It’s been a big year for babies! These are the celebrities that have welcomed little ones into the world this year

The Baby Boomers generation may have some stiff competition this year.

There’s been quite a surplus of pregnancy announcements and births in 2020, which some are calling the ‘pandemic baby boom’.

Katy Perry, Chris Pratt, Sophie Turner — so many celebrities have recently become parents, a role that has become increasingly difficult during the pandemic.

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom

Singer Katy Perry and actor Orlando Bloom just welcomed a little girl into the world, named Daisy Dove Bloom.

They recognised how hard becoming parents right now can be for people around the world and have asked for donations to UNICEF to help families in need.

“We are floating with love and wonder from the safe and healthy arrival of our daughter,” they said, “but we know we’re the lucky ones and not everyone can have a birthing experience as peaceful as ours was.

“Communities around the world are still experiencing a shortage of healthcare workers and every eleven seconds a pregnant woman or newborn dies, mostly from preventable causes.

“As UNICEF Goodwill Ambassadors, we know UNICEF is there, on the ground, doing whatever it takes to make sure every expecting mother has access to a trained health worker and access to quality healthcare.

“In celebration of the heart we know our daughter already has, we have set up a donation page to celebrate DDB’s arrival. By supporting them, you are supporting a safe start to life and reimagining a healthier world for every child.”

Chris Pratt and Katherine Schwarzenegger

Jurassic World star Chris Pratt and author Katherine Schwarzenegger have just had a baby girl named Lyla Maria.

“We couldn’t be happier. Both mom and baby are doing great,” announced Pratt.

“We are extremely blessed.”

The happy couple received congratulations from Pratt’s former co-stars, Guardians of the Galaxy‘s Karen Gillan and Zoe Saldana.

“Welcome to the world Lady Lyla!” gushed Saldana. “May your path be blessed with grace and joy always! We are so happy for you guys! Sending you so much love.”

Lea Michele and Zandy Reich

Glee actress Lea Michele and businessman Zandy Reich gave birth to a baby boy last week.

His name is Ever Leo, which Michele first hinted at in her baby announcement on Instagram, with the caption: “ForEver grateful for this true blessing.”

The new parents are happy as can be and have yet to share more updates on their family’s newest addition.

Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas

Game of Thrones‘ Sophie Turner and singer Joe Jonas are one of our favourite celebrity couples.

They always seem to be themselves and ignore the pressures of the public eye, a habit they have continued as they grow their family.

The lovebirds welcomed Willa, a baby girl, and have been over the moon ever since.

“The couple is taking time to enjoy this special moment and have only shared the news and updates with family and friends,” a source told Entertainment Tonight.

“With the pandemic Joe and Sophie have been very cautious about who is around them and their little girl.”

Ciara and Russell Wilson

‘Goodies’ singer Ciara has given birth to her third child with her husband, NFL star Russell Wilson.

The baby boy, Win Harrison, was born just last month and is already enjoying being serenaded by his talented mother.

Ciara sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to little Win just minutes after he was born.

Kristen Wiig and Avi Rothman

Kristen Wiig and her fiancé Avi Rothman are new parents to twins through surrogacy.

Earlier this month, the actress opened up about the difficulties of her parenting journey, how she tried IVF for years and eventually decided that surrogacy was the best way forward for her and her partner.

“So many things were bittersweet,” Wiig told People. “I was over the moon feeling [the twins] kick for the first time, but then I would get in my head and ask myself all these questions, like, ‘Why couldn’t I do this?’

“At the same time I would tell myself it didn’t matter. She was giving us the greatest gift, and I just wanted them to get here!”

Rupert Grint and Georgia Groome

Harry Potter alum Rupert Grint and actress Georgia Groome had a baby girl earlier this year.

The two have only been spotted a few times since in public but they have remained relatively private in their own love bubble during lockdown.

Elon Musk and Grimes

Tesla’s Elon Musk and singer Grimes caused quite the controversy when they announced their newborn’s name earlier this year: X Æ A-12.

People couldn’t figure out how to pronounce the baby’s name, and when Grimes tried to explain it, things became even more confusing.

But, controversy aside, we’re happy for the uniquely minded couple and wish them all the best with their little one.

Ashley Graham and Justin Ervin

Aren’t they just the cutest?! Model Ashley Graham had baby Isaac Menelik Giovanni in January and has continued to bless us with adorable pics ever since.

And in true Ashley Graham style, she has continually kept it real on her Instagram, showing nappy changes in a shop aisle, the struggle of postpartum underwear and a last minute breast pump in the back of an Uber.

But despite the new and somewhat hectic experiences, her and her husband Justin Ervin seem happier than ever as new parents.

Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden

Actress Cameron Diaz and her husband Benji Madden have chosen to keep their family life out of the limelight, and understably so.

The What Happens in Vegas star had a baby girl, Raddix, at the start of the year.

“She has instantly captured our hearts and completed our family,” Diaz said. “While we are overjoyed to share this news, we also feel a strong instinct to protect our little one’s privacy.

“So we won’t be posting pictures or sharing any more details, other than the fact that she is really really cute!”
