Florals for spring can still be groundbreaking — here are 27 dresses that prove it

Floaty, flouncy and feminine, a good floral dress marries comfort with style and can be worn to just about any occasion.

Look, Miranda Priestly, don’t you purse your lips at me like that.

Florals for spring are a perfect example of ‘if it ain’t broken, don’t try to fix it’ because, simply put, some things become style staples for a reason.

There are layers to why donning these flouncy frocks this time of year just feels right, beginning with the pattern itself. Spring is a season of new life, and watching buds begin to blossom and colour exploding into every garden fills your soul with a sense of brightness.

Much like dopamine dressing, these floral dresses — whether they’re printed with ditsy daisy dots or more bold and elaborate detailing — just make you feel happy. It’s like you’re reflecting the world back to itself, it just makes sense. It also helps that on those duller, more dreary days of spring, your outfit can bring the sunshine.

There’s also the comfort factor. It’s been a long winter of layering knits and feeling either stifled with heat or shivering with the cold. These gúnas allow us to adapt to the changing weather perfectly, so we can welcome in the warmer temperatures with open arms.

There’s also the fact that these dresses can be styled up or down with absolute ease. Whether it’s a picnic with friends, an engagement party, or a Sunday lunch with your nearest and dearest, you can swap a pair of slingback mules for trainers or boots, trade a cardigan for a denim jacket, and swap your tote for a cross-body bag and you’re ready for just about any occasion.

From maxi tea dresses to tie front milkmaid midis, here’s a selection of beautiful floral dresses to shop this spring…
