When she’s not busy looking incredible on the runway, penning powerful open letters to body shamers and hanging with bestie Taylor Swift, Gigi Hadid is stretching her creative limbs behind the camera.

The model made her directorial debut this week with the band DNCE’s first music video ?Cake By The Beach.? And the band’s frontman, Joe Jonas – who just happens to also be Hadid’s boyfriend – understandably raved about her talent fronting the clip.

?She’s always had a high creative eye, so she came up with the concept, and we rolled with it,? Jonas told Entertainment Weekly. ?She was a good boss.? In fact, she co-directed with Black Coffee – but Hadid is no stranger to music videos, having appeared in Taylor Swift’s now famous ?Bad Blood? video over the summer.

The video suitably features a lot of cake puns and bikini-clad women (well, they are on the beach) having their cake and throwing it too. Also, it’does include a giant piece of cake by the beach that helps orchestrate an impressively colourful food fight.

Don’t worry, though; all of the cake was cleaned up after the shoot the best way anyone knew how. ?We all just ate the cake off the sand,? DNCE bassist/keyboardist Cole Whittle said.

?She [Hadid] had a megaphone. She was a badass. Everybody looked up to her to lead, and she really came through and showed us that she could do it,” Jonas continued.

He also recently praised Hadid for speaking out against body shaming.

The model posted a message on Instagram in which she hit back at the haters who blasted her figure, and Jonas praised her for doing this. ”I’m really proud of her. I think it’s something that needs to be spoken about especially in that community. The industry seems to be changing for models, and it’s great that she can have a voice.”

It’s a fun clip. We wonder if Hadid will direct a video for Swift next?
