WHERE FASHION MEETS CULTURE

IN HER SHOES

There’s nothing like a pair of shoes for expressing your own personal style. Author Suzanne Middlemass ( @suzannemiddlemass) is a British photographer who has worked with Vogue, Elle, InStyle, Glamour, and GQ and travelled to fashion weeks all around the world. Middlemass’s new book, It’s All About Shoes (teNeues, €35.29, out March 31 at teneues.com), showcases this sartorial self-expression to perfection with its eclectic mix of fashion mavens, all of whom put their best (sometimes bold, sometimes beautiful and other times outright strange) foot forward each morning. In an increasingly globalised and homogenised culture, there’s something very endearing about a woman who is prepared to step outside the box. Designers were similarly preoccupied with footwear at the SS17 shows – from spiralised heels at Kenzo to Charlotte Olympia’s miniature figurines and Thom Browne’s whimsical ocean-themed heels, shoes are this season’s sartorial talking point.

GOING FULL CIRCLE

?Deconstruction? is the buzzword in fashion and design now, and nobody is doing this better than emerging Irish designer Richard Malone. Like many designers who feed off the architecture and interiors aesthetic around them, Malone draws inspiration from the building sites where he grew up.

IRISH BEAUTY ON THE GO

Foof.ie is Ireland’s newest solution to beauty on the go. Founded by psychologist and beauty entrepreneur Michelle Wilde, the app allows you to arrange a home or office appointment with a qualified beauty therapist, make-up artist or hairstylist. ?We can relate to women who are trying to juggle hectic careers and family life… we thrive on making it easier for them to look and feel good,? explains Wilde. Foof.ie services will be available in Cork, Limerick, Galway, Dublin, and the surrounding Dublin border areas, foof.ie.
