Ruza Leko, founder of jewellery label Leko & Leko, opts for more of a paired back way of styling, here she talks her favourite brands with our Fashion director Maria Kelly.
Why did you choose this outfit to wear today? New experiences and stepping outside of my comfort zone have been a big part of my work as a jewellery designer over the last few years. The outfit I wore today is something I haven’t tried before, but I really like it and it has helped me to better understand how my jewellery works when styled with this type of outfit. Trying new styles brings fresh insights to my design.
Do you have a signature look? Definitely. Minimal (and comfortable) pieces in neutral colours are my go-to. I like clothes to feel good and last longer than one season, so I choose quality materials. I guess gentle touch of avant-garde. Although in the past I experimented with fashion more, with time my style has become more casual and minimal For me, accessories are what complete a look.
Which labels do you wear most often? I like Cos, because it’s very casual but sophisticated, and I find AllSaints is a very good fit for me, so it makes me feel comfortable and confident.
Is Christmas a glamorous time of year for you? Actually not so much. The festive season is more about relaxation for me. Once my work is finished in Dublin, I head off to the countryside in cosy warm clothes and wellies. but I always love to wear my jewellery, as it is a reflection of what I love and who I am, plus it makes my look completely my own.
If you could receive one fashion gift for Christmas, what would it be? A dressmaker to teach me how to make my own clothes. Is that too much to ask?
