5 Designer Print Coats Worth Your Consideration

Forget playing it safe with a navy peacoat and a flattering belted black wool coat. Print is where it’s at. Every Autumn/Winter runway last spring was imploring us to take a risk. Miu Miu sang the praises of clashing patterns?and Simone Rocha was all but begging us to treat our time on earth like the sensual bacchanal it deserves to be. Here are some of the print coats we’ve been looking at with hungry eyes these past few days.

This double-breasted jacquard coat from Gucci is part of Alessandro Michele’s debut collection for the house and the quality and ambition shows. The print harks back to the golden days of the Italian brand and the metallic threading along the geometric pattern is made to last, and to create one helluva impression.

Gucci €3,980

The fact that we’re all stealing our mother’s houndstooth means that investing in one’s own version of the classic coat makes utter sense, in the only way handing over a huge chunk of a pay cheque can. This Carven version comes with an asymmetric pocket, ideal positioning for all those extras and smartphones the 1980s woman managed to have a fabulous time without.

Carven €790

If your main aim in life is to look like a woman who single-handedly led her 18th century clan to glory and enjoyed an array of deeply committed lovers when travelling through low and highlands, then this Vivienne Westwood Anglomania blanket cape ought to do the job.

Vivienne Westwood €1,230.73

Print does not necessarily mean throwing your shoulders into a kaleidoscope. You can keep things monochrome and interesting. See this illustrated Moschino white wool. Fuuuuuuun.

Moschino €1370

Plaid, boucl? tweed, faux python trim? This Miu Miu coat has a lot of good things going on. It’s a statement, made in Italy for a woman who may or may not smoke, but can certainly stop someone in their tracks with a truly DGAF glance.

Miu Miu €3,600
