This grand Victorian home in Killiney is on the market for €2 million

We may not be able to afford it, but that doesn’t mean we’re not taking notes on the great wallpaper.

Dating from the 1870s, this large Victorian home occupies a corner position between Killiney Avenue and Killiney Heath. Stonehenge, as it is named, sprawls across three levels and features a total of seven bedrooms, so there would certainly be room for guests (remember guests?).

The home has plenty of period features, including original parquet floors, cornicing, and marble fireplaces. The current owners have decorated the house in keeping with its history, with plenty of richly-coloured wallpaper and elegant furniture.

The entrance hallway greets you with a pale blue wallpaper, and leads to the three grand reception rooms that are typical of this period: a formal reception room, a drawing room and a large dining room that would easily seat a crowd. All three feature bay windows.

Also on this level are the kitchen, a living room, utility room, bathroom and bedroom. The garden level contains a second kitchen and living room, a further two bedrooms, a study, and a sun room. A new owner might seek to simplify this layout, and will definitely want to update the kitchen and bathrooms.

Upstairs are the remaining four bedrooms, including the main bedroom which features a dressing room. There is also a second study on this level.

The house sits on 0.6 acres of land, and so has a large garden surrounding it. There is a well-sized lawn and patio as well as mature trees, and there are views of the Dublin mountains.

Less than 5 minutes’ drive from both Killiney Hill and Killiney beach, any new owner would also have some great walks on their doorstep. Click through our gallery for the full tour of this home.
