Get yourself a festive feeling this weekend, with the highstreet’s finest Christmas interiors inspiration, from baubles and wreaths to candles and bedding.
It’s true, Christmas does come earlier and earlier every year. But based on the amount of Christmas trees and fairy lights suddenly bedecking my neighbourhood, this year its early arrival is actually welcome.
We all need something to look forward to. Even if it doesn’t mean the same as it did last year, we’ll take a thoughtful gift, homecooked meal and hugs from the people you love, whether they’re near or far away.
But it’s also been hard to find that excitement this year. It’s frankly been a sad and stressful 2020 and we are very ready to eat our weight in chocolate.
So whether you’re not quite ready to pull the decs out the attic yet but want to dip your toe in or have been all-in since November 1, here are some Christmas interiors from our favourite highstreet brands to get you in the festive mood.
Penney’s has gone very Little Women with their Christmas collection this year and we are here for it.
Between the classic red checked bed linen to the wonderfully natural wreaths hanging on the wall and bed frames, visions of sugar plums would definitely be dancing in our heads if we went for a long winter’s nap here.
Keeping the tablescape very simple, Penney’s use bowls of ornaments to festoon the table, while cushions and throws cosy up the living room.
For something a little more bohemian, Madam Stoltz is simultaneously making us want to travel and to stay at home – look at those palm tree ornaments!
They’ve got some really lovely wrapping ideas too, from glitter-dipped feathers to dried flowers and washi tape. The simple white packaging lets the little details sing.
Next’s Christmas collection is an ode to muted hues with flecks of gold, twinkling lights, candle-lit lanterns and greenery doing all the talking.
They also have lots of great serving platters (even if it’s just you and the dog sharing a wedge of brie).
You can see inside the Zara Home Christmas shop here, but we’re particularly keen on their kitschy tablecloths. If you can’t do kitsch at Christmas, when can you?
In contrast, Marks & Spencer had gone very blue with their festive display with graphic baubles and celestial patterns.
Some people do festive pyjamas, others do festive sheets. These ones look liketraditional ice-skaters, but when you look closely, it’s actually a gang of wrapped up penguins.
Garden Trading is nearly always our first stop for Christmas interiors inspo, they always pull a scene together so beautifully. This year they’ve opted to go for something very clean and modern with graphic stars and smoked glassware.
Greenery is the star with a muted grey undertone keeps the decorations looking fresh.
If The Crown is your festive inspiration this winter, then Amara’s Christmas rooms are the ones for you. Over-the-top, leafed in gold and topped with a crown, it is truly fit for a queen.
When a vase of festive blooms just isn’t enough, why not go for a giant gold glass hurricane instead.
If you really want something different this winter, House Doctor’s display is more an ode to the season than the holiday itself. Unpolished brass candle holders, textured tableware and natural accessories are simple yet beautiful.
Even their Christmas table lets nature take centre stage with thin stem candles and iced pine cones adding a touch of glamour.
