The property includes 9 bedrooms, a sauna, helipad, and of course, 360 degree views.

If you know any millionaires looking for a home with spectacular views, then you might direct them the way of Clare Island lighthouse, which is currently on the market for €4.8 million.

Sitting at the top of the cliffs at the northern end of Clare Island, it dates back to 1806, when it was built by the Marquis of Sligo. In 1816 the original lighthouse was destroyed by a fire, and the new second tower was erected in 1818. It functioned until September 29 1965 when it was decommissioned after 159 years of unbroken service.

Nowadays it is a stylish and comfortable space, made up of two towers, a number of small cottages and some converted outbuildings, all of which have been fully restored to modern standards.

These buildings sit on 2.35 acres of cliff top land, including walled gardens, and, a must for any luxury property, a helipad.

Some highlights of the lighthouse’s interior include solid wood flooring and traditional cast iron fireplaces, a conservatory with panoramic sea views, and the three storey lantern tower with a balcony and 360 degree views.

The Achill View bedroom is located at the top of the curved oak staircase and is the original lighthouse keeper’s residence. It has a view across the sea to Achill Island.

Other buildings include the original Tower House which has a sitting/dining room on the ground floor featuring original flagstone floors, as well as a circular bedroom with incredible sea views. The Cliff Corner cottage also provides further accommodation, as does the Banshee cottage.
