Look inside: Victoria and David Beckham’s Dublin wedding venue just got an upgrade

The venue that hosted the ultimate celebrity wedding of the 1990s has been transformed with a new refurbishment, so of course we had to peek inside.

Who can forget David and Victoria Beckham’s wedding? Although, now that we think of it, they were more commonly referred to ‘Posh and Becks’ back then. His bleached highlights and white suit, her barely-there fringe and teeny-tiny crown: the whole affair screamed ‘nineties’. The couple’s tastes are a bit more pared-back now, and their wedding venue has similarly kept up to date with what modern brides and grooms are looking for on their special day.

Luttrellstown Castle in Castleknock has received an extensive renovation and refurbishment, led by interior designer Arlene McIntyre of Ventura Design. Combining antique pieces with modern flourishes, the result is both faithful to the castle’s 600-year history, as well as providing contemporary nods to style.

The castle provides a gorgeous setting for a wedding, perfect for couples who want a real fairytale touch to their special day. Its size also means there are options for weddings from small gatherings up to large parties.

The library is the perfect example of how the history of the castle has been respected, while still providing the ultimate comfort to guests. These Chesterfield sofas feel perfectly at home in this grand room, and who wouldn’t love to browse those shelves for a while?

The project includes eight new bedrooms, which have been finished with great attention to detail. The Aileen Plunkett room, above, has luxurious details like the four-poster bed, rich, soft carpet and the calming blue shade on the walls. It also has a generously-sized en-suite bathroom, below.

Any of these recently completed rooms would make for a special stay, whether as part of a wedding or simply as a weekend away. Who knows, maybe the Beckhams will even return to their wedding venue to check out the new design.

This refurbishment is only the first stage of a two-part project, so we can’t wait to see the results of the second phase, due to be completed in April 2020, which will include even more beautiful bedrooms.
