On Saturday, guests gathered to celebrate a?#Mo?tMoment at the?Mo?t Party Day.

Julie Dupouy, the world’s number 1 female sommelier and the best’sommelier in Ireland since 2009, taught us about?Mo?t & Chandon over carefully selected choices to compliment dinner in Marco Pierre White’s in Donnybrook. We learned that Madame de Pompadour, patron of the arts, member of the French court and the official chief mistress of Louis XV, was the first ambassador for Mo?t & Chandon and Napoleon Bonaparte was also a fan. The??Imperial? trademark was named in honour of?him.

?Champagne is the only wine that leaves a woman beautiful after drinking it.? – Madame de Pompadour

We ate Castletownbere Crab with with?Mo?t Brut Imperial, beef with?Mo?t Grand Vintage Rose and cheese with?Mo?t?Grande Vintage, then kept the party going in?House.?

Guess what else we learned? It’s not pronounced mo-AY, it’s pronounced mo-ET. The ‘t’ is pronounced! We swear. ?So don’t roll your eyes when we pronounce it MO-ET, we have it on good authority that this is the correct pronunciation!

?I drink champagne when I win, to celebrate?and I drink champagne when I lose, to console myself.? – Napoleon Bonaparte
