New Bond Girl Will Be Age Appropriate

daniel craig and bond girls

As slightly nonsensical as it was, Skyfall turned out to be the prettiest, most promising movie yet from the James Bond franchise. And with sensitive crooner Sam Smith lined up for its newest offering Spectre, the hype is definitely building about their newest flick, Spectre.

Yesterday saw the announcement of the cast for the new flick and there were actually a few surprised faces, we must say. More specifically, the fabulous Monica Bellucci has been cast as a Bond girl, i.e. the first age appropriate Bond girl in as long as we can remember.

In fact, at the age of fifty, she is four years older than her on-screen love interest Daniel Craig, and the oldest Bond girl of all time. Not that you’d ever realise that from looking at the absolutely beautiful Italian actress and model, who seems to have defied the aging process.

That’s without even mentioning her acting ability and the screen hits you’ll recognise her from. Bellucci has appeared in The Passion of the Christ, The Matrix Reloaded, The Brothers Grimm and The Sorcerers Apprentice. She is also fluent in French and English to boot.

We’re delighted to see that director Sam Mendes is on board with celebrating the beauty and ability of women who have elegantly glided past the narrow and sometimes dull bracket of twenty to thirty. Here’s to celebrating women at all ages.

Who is your all time favourite Bond girl?
