Irish cookbook author Trish Deseine is selling her dreamy French country home

The bucolic dreamland is just two hours’ from Paris

A lot of people are thinking of leaving the city and moving to the country now that they can work from home — or at least any home with a reliable internet connection.

Counties like Cork, Claire and Sligo are popular, but others are tentatively thinking of moving farther afield. They’ve always dreamt of living the good life in France, Spain or Italy and they’ve decided that now is as good a time as any.

If you’re in the latter group, you might be interested to know that cookbook author Trish Deseine is selling her rose-covered home in le Perche, Normandy. The dreamy longère is about two hours’ drive from Paris and surrounded by picture-postcard villages.

The Antrim-born cook, and author of The Paris Gourmet and Trish’s French Kitchen, has had a lifelong love affair with France. She studied French in university and moved to Paris in the 1980s before moving to the South of France in 2014.

Her rustic home in le Perche has just come on the market and it will no doubt appeal to those who love good food and wine and a laid-back outdoor lifestyle.

Trish gently renovated the space when she moved in but kept the original features including the marble fireplaces and terracotta floor tiles.

The kitchen includes an old ceramic double sink, a white stone fireplace and a door that opens into the potager — ideal for GIYers and garden enthusiasts.

The garden features elder, peach, cherry and walnut trees, but the pièce de résistance is the climbing roses that adorn the front of the house and the charming green shuttered windows.

Agent details are coming soon. In the meantime, you can take a look around on Instagram
