Workers at Indeed in Dublin have been told to work from home amid risk of coronavirus exposure
Popular global recruitment company Indeed has asked all of its Irish employees to work from home until Monday, February 17. The company said one of its employees in Singapore, who recently visited the Dublin offices, may have been exposed to the virus after family members visited a facility caring for a coronavirus patient. It is out of “caution”, rather than necessity, that they’re asking staff to stay home.
In a statement issued by the company on Monday, February 10, Indeed said, “While there are no confirmed cases of infection, out of an abundance of caution for the health and safety of our employees, we have asked all employees in the Dublin offices to work from home until we have received confirmation,” the statement added. “Business continues uninterrupted across the globe.”
Indeed, which has offices in both Capital Docks and Stephen’s Green, employs approximately 1,000 people in Dublin. The company has said it will keep both its staff and the HSE updated.
UPDATE
On Tuesday, February 11, an Indeed spokesperson added, “Today we learned that these family members have tested negative for the virus.
“The welfare of our employee and their family has been our highest priority during this period,” they added. “Out of an abundance of caution for their health and safety, we asked employees in Singapore to work from home while we awaited the test results. As an extra precaution, we also asked employees in Dublin and Sydney to work from home and undertook deep cleaning of the three offices.
“With today’s news, we anticipate all employees who have been working from home will return to their offices on Wednesday, February 12. We would like to thank them for their cooperation, patience and understanding as this situation evolved.”
