Are you one of the one billion people around the world who suffer from debilitating migraines? New research’suggests that your gut could be responsible for these painful episodes.

Scientists can now tell us that people who suffer from migraines have different types of bacteria in their gut, so eating certain foods can become a phenomenal?trigger. Foods to be on the lookout for are nitrate-processing foods such as’meats, leafy vegetables, and some wines – so you might have to rethink your Saturday evening steak and?cabernet, and those one-too-many chocolate biscuits with your tea.

Don’t panic yet, however, as scientists are still speculative about it and insist that more research needs to be done. Speaking to The Guardian, Dr. Brendan Davies,?consultant neurologist at the University Hospitals of North Midlands, said that the idea that these foods can cause migraines is plausible; “There’s something called a hot dog headache, where nitrates are suspected to be involved,? he said. ?This is interesting work, but would need to be confirmed.”

Traditionally speaking, diet, stress, hormone imbalance, and lack of sleep are well-known triggers of migraines, which is the third most prevalent’disease in the world and generally causes a throbbing headache, nausea, and fatigue.
