Brooklyn Premiere at The Savoy

Last night, Thursday €22nd of October was the Irish Premiere of Brooklyn at the Savoy Cinema.

Bono was there to celebrate the Irish Premiere alongside the cast including Saoirse Ronan, Eva Birthistle, Eve Macklin, Jenn Murray, Jane Brennan, Eileen O?Higgins, Denis Conway, Iarla O’Lionaird; Director John Crowley, author of the novel Brooklyn Colm T?ib?n, Scriptwriter Nick Hornby and Producer Finola O’Dwyer.

The Irish movie has been receiving plaudits at international film festivals such as? Sundance, Toronto International Film Festival, New York Film Festival and Vancouver International Film Festival where it won the People’s Choice Award.

Brooklyn is an?adaptation of the beloved novel written?by Colm T?ib?n,?set in the 1950s and tells the story of Eilis Lacey (Saoirse Ronan) a young Irish immigrant who moves?to Brooklyn, New York in the hope of finding better work opportunities. A family tragedy brings her back home to Ireland where she falls back into her community.?Eilis finds herself confronting a terrible dilemma – a heart-breaking choice between two men and two countries.
