Everyone’s favourite dystopian sci-fi series Black Mirror is getting an exciting update. It has been revealed, in a report by Bloomberg, that the new season of the Netflix show will feature a choose-your-own-adventure episode; where the viewer can decide how the show will end.

According to reports, the episode will feature in the fifth season of the Emmy award-winning show, which will air in December this year. Details about the plot of the episode or the characters haven’t been revealed yet, as Netflix is keeping quiet about the series until its launch.

The show, famous for its terrifying imaginings of our future world, has featured episodes in the past around automated dating, augmented-reality video games and a social-standing ratings system.

What’s more, Black Mirror won’t be the only series to feature controllable episodes; Netflix is reportedly planning a number of projects around interactive TV for adults, after the success of similar features in its children’s shows, which were introduced last year. The upcoming Black Mirror series will be the first time that Netflix has used the idea in a live-action series aimed at adult viewers.

It’s unclear how complicated or detailed the interactive episode will be, but it’s definitely an interesting step for the entertainment platform.
