Working from home or self-isolating? These are the best YouTube fitness channels to exercise with over the next two weeks

It has never been more important than now to exercise.

This is for many reasons. Firstly, gyms have shut down to help stop the spread of Covid-19. Secondly, most of us are staying indoors. And thirdly, this isolation can affect our mental health and general wellbeing.

Doctors and experts can’t stress enough the importance of daily physical activity for both physical and mental health purposes. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) say exercising regularly can ease stress during this time and help people to cope with the uncertainty.

Even 15 minutes of physical movement can help to clear the mind which is why we are taking a look at some of the best online workouts you can do from the comfort of your own home.

From yoga to more high-intensity sessions, there is something here for every fitness level and interest. So close the door, block out social media and the world, and get that body moving.

Even online it’s important to support Irish where ever we can. Flowstate began as a “Passion Project”, founded by three friends who were inspired by each other’s work and wanted to find a way for their worlds to collide. John Belton and Adrienne Murphy (some of the most trusted physical trainers in Dublin) collaborated with Al Maser (graffiti artist) to create The Flowstate Mat. Since then, the Flowstate team has created an engaging space for movement in Atelier Maser and built a community and environment free from stress, allowing you to go with the flow.

Yoga with Adriene

With 6.3 million subscribers, Yoga with Adriene is a household name. From yoga routines for beginners to more complicated flows, this will keep your practice evolving over the next few weeks.

Ballet Beautiful

Mary Helen Bowers is a professional ballerina based in US who posts challenging ballet workouts you can try at home. Think Pilates with a twist, however these are not easy so be prepared.

The Body Coach

Most will know The Body Coach aka Joe Wicks by now. The fitness coach shot to online fame with his easy to follow ‘Lean in 15’ meals and quickly moved this success to YouTube. His channel is filled with quick but certainly not easy HIIT workouts. These are perfect for those who want to break a sweat.

Boho Beautiful

Boho Beautiful has a range of quick Pilates workouts to keep those muscles in working order. The page is filled with beautiful yoga practices too, all of which are recorded outdoors in dreamy settings. Escapism at its finest and most welcome.
