Yesterday NPHET made recommendations that Dublin should move to Level 3

Cabinet are expected to make a decision today about lockdown levels in Dublin after the National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) made recommendations that Dublin should move into Level 3 of coronavirus restrictions following a spike in cases.

According to figures from the Health Protection Surveillance Centre, the 14-day incidence of Covid-19 per 100,000 people in Dublin is at 104, followed by Louth on 76.8 and Leitrim on 71.8.

The special Cabinet Covid-19 Sub-Committee, which is chaired by Taoiseach Micheál Martin and includes Tánaiste Leo Varadkar, Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly, Minister for Transport Eamon Ryan, Minister for Finance Paschal Donohoe and Minister for Public Expenditure Michael McGrath, will meet today and a decision is expected this afternoon.

NPHET recommended that indoor dining in restaurants and pubs serving food in the capital should stop. This advice has been met with anger from the Restaurants Association of Ireland. CEO Adrian Cummins tweeted last night to say he was “shocked” that indoor dining was to close.
