The new COS x Tabata Shibori collection epitomises laid-back summer dressing

The new COS x Tabata Shibori collection epitomises laid-back summer dressing

A new 14-piece limited edition collection, the COS x Kazuki Tabata edit is an ode to the time-honoured craft of shibori.

Limited edition collections are all the rage these days with countless highstreet retailers unveiling special collaborations as of late – first, there was Mango x Victoria Beckham, Sienna Miller launched her new edit with M&S and now COS has revealed an exclusive capsule line with Japanese artist Kazuki Tabata.

Showcasing the fusion of traditional craft and modern design, the 14-piece collection utilises the time-honoured technique of shibori – a traditional Japanese method of resist-dying garments – to produce unique patterns through binding, folding, and dyeing cloth.

Spanning womenswear, menswear and accessories, the collaboration stays true to the COS brand while bringing Tabata’s unique flair to the project. Available in soft blue, orange and brown, the colour palette was carefully chosen to evoke a sense of timelessness and calm.

Designed with summer in mind, both the fabrics and texture are perfect for hot weather escapades and can be styled and layered in myriad ways. The sekka shibori technique is used to create a delicate silk scarf, while the tesuji shibori technique takes centre stage on garments made from more sustainable materials such as recycled nylon and Tencel™ Lycoll.

Available online and in the COS store on Wicklow Street in Dublin, shop a selection of our favourite pieces below.
