January comfort dressing: How to style leggings for work

Black leggings; the real MVP of your January work wardrobe.

Leggings are a wardrobe staple that have stood the test of time, for many reasons – one being their versatility, another being how comfortable they are. Largely falling under the ‘loungewear’ umbrella, their popularity surged during lockdown when our collective aim was to be as cosy as possible. Thankfully, that period of time is now but a distant (yet still very triggering) memory, however, our penchant for leggings continues… and the good news is that they can even constitute appropriate workwear attire when styled correctly.

Not quite pants, but not quite pyjamas either, leggings are the perfect thing to help you ease back into January after the festive period mostly because they’re stretchy, warm and go with just about everything (a definite bonus if you tend to roll out of bed minutes before you need to leave). And with January universally considered The Worst Month of the calendar year, it’s completely understandable that we’d want to dress ourselves in the clothing equivalent of a warm hug.

So, what should you wear leggings with to work? See below for how some of Instagram’s most stylish are wearing them.
