And what better time than now, the beginning of the new season, to bag a €300 spend at Kildare Village. From Diane von Furstenberg (Kildare Village is now the only Irish stockist) and Prada to DKNY and The Kooples, Kildare Village stocks all of your essential AW18 items. I’ve got my eye on a striped DVF cardigan, a pair of studded brogues from The Kooples and something indulgent from Anya Hindmarch.

When I’m plotting my seasonal spend, I always begin with a couple of good solid essentials, like this Gerard Darel coat, worn here by former model Olivia Tracey. It has a classic, slightly masculine cut, but the warm milky shade of white adds a feminine feel. I always think winter white looks so luxurious and premium, and worn with a mix of textured neutrals, it creates a classic but unique outfit.

Coat, €240 (was €420) at Gerard Darel. Sweater, €39 (was €119) at Mint Velvet. Jeans, €129 (were €179); and shoes, €259 (were €375); both Escada. Bag,€169.50 (was €339.25) at Lulu Guinness.

Co-ords are the best investment you can make this month. They offer one absolutely stunning, show-stopping look, but can be taken apart and worn as separates to create a multitude of different outfits. Stylist and author Annmarie O’Connor demonstrates how beautifully this rich shade of royal blue works on pale skin tones. There are any number of pieces in the Diane von Furstenberg store that will put the colour back into your cheeks this winter.

Shirt,€96 (was €319); trousers,€115 (were €394); both at Diane von Furstenberg. Shoes, €156 (were €235) at LK Bennett; bracelet, was €208, now €104, Diane von Furstenberg. Bangles, €27 (were €60), at Jaeger. Ring, Annmarie’s own.

One of the great things about Kildare Village for me is that I can pick up evening dress as easily as weekend wear. The latter is something many of us neglect as we tend to focus so much more on workwear and event dressing. A khaki jacket is such a terrific basic to have in your wardrobe. Broadcaster Angela Scanlon shows perfectly how you can easily achieve a “dressed up dressed down” look when you have a utilitarian jacket to throw on. This piece from Vans is top of my wish list.

Jacket,€50 (was €75) at Vans. Sweater, €159 (was €279) at N. Peal. Skirt, €495 (was €795) at Louise Kennedy. Bag, €183 (was €365) at Diane von Furstenberg. Pom-pom, €34 (was €75) at Furla. Shoes, €50 (were €75) at Vans. Socks, €9 (were €15) at DKNY. Jewellery, model’s own.

All items featured are available at Kildare Village. For the chance to win a €300 shopping voucher and a styling session with fashion director Marie Kelly, simply rate, review and subscribe to IMAGE’s fashion podcast Smart Casual.
