What To Wear In Unseasonably Warm Weather? A Sleeveless Coat

Who would have thought that the last week in September would bring with it temperatures of above 20 degrees? An Indian summer feels a little like an understatement. If it’s not a sin to say so, I’m over it, and wishing for that early autumn chill that usually begins at the end of August. But here we are in the office wearing T-shirts while sitting beside wide open windows. Given it’s still too warm for polo necks (unfortunately), opaque tights (more’s the pity) and proper overcoats, I’m turning to my trusty sleeveless coat instead, as it’s the perfect transitional piece. Even better, a sleeveless coat looks great worn over a leather jacket in winter, so it’s definitely not a whimsical buy. Clever styling means it will work throughout the seasons, so don’t feel guilty if you want to invest in something a little bit special. Here are a few that might appeal.

This is without doubt an aspirational buy, but?there’s no harm looking, is there? This faux-sheepskin coat is soft and textured and fluid, and I think I would never want to take it off.

This Massimo Dutti gilet is a great little body warmer, and it would look so smart over a crisp white shirt. The warm shade of toffee is really easy to pair with rich autumnal shades.

Camel is the colour of this season, and this elegant coat is perfect for office wear as well as weekend wear. Pair it with a midi dress for a lovely layered effect.

I love the addition of pockets here and the epaulettes. It adds a very cool, boyish vibe to this Sandro piece. The cobalt colour is really striking too.
