From beaded designs to delicate chains, an anklet is the ultimate summer accessory.
Anklets are perhaps the most seasonal piece of jewellery you can own (in our Irish climate, anyway). There’s something about showing off a bare ankle that lets you know it must be summer, even if the sun isn’t exactly splitting the stones.
During my teenage years, I wore an anklet determinedly all summer long, and mourned the September morning where I had to remove it to put my school socks on once again. For me, they signal a freedom, and immediately add a summer vibe, even if you’ve had to throw a jumper on over your sun dress.
Here are eight that I’ve been eyeing up, keen to reignite my summer anklet tradition.

Made from beautifully colourful glass beads and cultured freshwater rice pearls, this gorgeous anklet is like a grown-up version of the one your friend would bring you back from Spain when you were in school. I’m pretty sure I owned this exact anklet when I was 15, and I’m tempted to own it again. Wonderfully reminiscent of the surfer aesthetic that many of us got caught up in during the noughties, this anklet is cute enough to still pull off today. Anklet with daisy beads, €5.99, Asos.
