Spoken Poet Hollie McNish Speaks Out About Breastfeeding

English poet Hollie McNishs? latest revolutionary poem has been made into a film that will be talked about for years to come. Titled ?Embarrassed?, the 4-minute video sums up everything that’s wrong with societies approach to breastfeeding and breast culture. Starring McNish herself, the spoken poet expertly, and personally, executes anyone who has ever shamed a woman for wanting to breastfeed in public. Her striking performance is a tale of honesty, disappointment, and frustration, and perfectly depicts how our culture tends to favour pornographic material over, seeing what McNish calls, “this small piece of flesh”.

McNish began her spoken work career – by accident almost -10 years ago. Working as a planner for her 9-5, McNish, who enjoyed spending time writing, was persuaded by friends and family to share her words at a local open mic night. By 2009 she had a UK Poetry Slam Championship under her belt, as well as triumphantly being crowned third in the World Poetry Slam finals.
