The inaugural Strandhill Food Festival?takes place today on the grounds of Sligo Airport, Sligo.?Hangar 1 will become home to over 30 food stalls/producers from across Ireland, whilst the terminal building will host food demonstrations from top food bloggers, local chefs and cookbook authors. Festival goers will be able to tantalise their taste buds while enjoying some of the best live music in the North West. Family friendly entertainment will also be provided. Light The Liffey Here

‘Light the Liffey’ is a yearly awareness campaign lead by Inner City Helping Homeless, highlighting and bringing together all of those who are trapped by homelessness. With over 3,000 children and over 5,000 adults now in emergency accommodation across the country ‘Light the Liffey’ aims to bring the city together standing in solidarity on the?housing/homeless crisis. Inner City helping Homeless are teaming with the?#MyNameIs?campaign this Tuesday, October 10th, to continue raising awareness surrounding homelessness. Donations are welcome on the night. The Spud Fest family fun day is back this Saturday, October?7th?2017?in?Newbridge House, Donabate. This free family event is in association with Keogh’s and Country Crest and promises to be a day to remember for the whole family. The festival kicks off at?12pm?and finishes around?4pm. Some of this year’s highlights include bouncy castles, vintage tractors, live music, arts and crafts and face painting, BBQ with free tasty potato treats, plus free parking. Mondays are about to get a lot more exciting as Omniplex Cinemas are heralding the return of a series of classic films with the launch of #BringItBack.? Giving audiences the chance to experience some perennial favourite films the way they were intended; #BringItBack?will see a series of classics make their full cinematic comeback on the big screen in theatres across Ireland. The series launched last week with coming of age tearjerker,?My Girl, first released 26 years ago.?Omniplex Cinemas will be rolling out #BringItBack?every Monday at 7:30 in nine locations from Monday, October 2nd?including Mahon Point, Cork; Rathmines, Dublin; Dundalk, Limerick, Tralee, Wexford, Craigavon, Lisburn and Dundonald. Calling all film/music buffs! This is one for your diary: the Smithwick’s Soundtrack Series is a special series of gigs which will see Le Galaxie showcase their contemporary take on one of the most memorable movies of all time: Apocalypse Now. Gig-goers will experience something truly special as the Dublin synth-poppers take inspiration from this iconic soundtrack to produce a one-off Le Galaxie creation on Friday, October 13th, in Whelans Dublin.
