Following on from their first opening in Naas, Jysk is set to set up new shops in Drogheda, Navan and Portlaoise and this summer
For new homeowners, it can sometimes feel that our options are limited when it comes to buying affordable furniture. Sure, there are plenty of online shops, but larger pieces like sofas and beds really require a test run. Otherwise, how can you know if what you’re getting really is a bargain, or if you actually overpaid for a crumby, uncomfortable item that barely lasted the delivery never mind a house move.
The only place with a huge range of options on the low end of the budget is Ikea, and they’ve recently gotten some competition in the form of Danish brand Jysk. Their first shop in Naas, Co Kildare has already made them a hit, the homeware brand focuses on inexpensive homeware from lighting and bedding to furniture and accessories. The plan is to open a total of 15 locations across the country and this summer they’re looking at the next three in Drogheda (opening on July 4), Navan (July 25) and Portlaoise (August 8).
Their goose logo is part of what initially jump-started the brand’s success when it opened in Aarhus in 1979 – their duvets and bedding. Jysk is a one-stop-shop for everything you need for a dreamy night’s sleep. They have even been granted the title of Official Supplier of the Royal Danish Court. However, nowadays they have expanded their selection to include a wide range of furniture and home accessories, all within the Scandinavian themes of neutral colours and textures, with clean design and low prices to boot.
