Super Miss Sue

by Laura George
31st Jan 2014

Super Miss Sue’s been a long time coming but, boy, was it worth the wait- ours was rewarded with the best lunch we’ve had in recent memory. And it was for the most part Dukan-do, to boot.

Collective greed and carb-starved low blood sugar dictated Team Image order lots of small bits to maximise tasting opps and bulk up our protein intake. Keeping to the regime is a very tall order in most places, but a doddle here. So much choice! We took our Umami (Japanese for that special more-ish je ne sais quoi) oysters neat and they lived up to the promise of their name, dusting their Carlingford cousins; tender scallops in truffled ponzu on a bed of marinated pak choi were perfectly poised between cooked and raw; noodly prawn wontons with a crude chop chilli sauce snuck into the mix as a naughty treat (there must’ve been at least 3g of flour in there). The tuna sashimi paired with avocado was generous enough that we were still on speaking terms after it was divvied up. You could taste the sea in everything – flavours were subtle- but they were also just zingy enough to be interesting. We couldn’t detect a trace of teething pains in the barely two-week old kitchen and would have happily returned for dinner if we could have manufactured a good enough excuse.

Still sitting in your chair? Then know this place is as easy on the eye, in a Downtown-ish meets Paris sort of a way, as its older sisters Dillingers and 777. The raw bar is a stunner.? If you instagrammed the whole fish on ice, blew up the picture and printed it out (remember physical photos?), you’d have a veritable work of art. ?Yes, ma?am, SMS is the whole package. Grab a table while you still can – in a week or two you won’t stand a chance.
