Peak Performance (Whilst Avoiding Burnout) At The Westbury Hotel Dublin: Social Pics

16th Feb 2018

We had a full house at The Westbury Hotel last night for our first IMAGE Peak Performance (Whilst Avoiding Burnout) event! On arrival, attendees enjoyed a champagne reception, wonderful company, inspirational panelists and of course, plenty of divine canapés.

As everyone took their seats in the Grafton Suite, they discovered an amazing luxury gift bag with some beautiful gifts, including Paperblanks Notebooks, Pukka Tea, Dr. Coys and Goat’s milk face cream from Ziaja Skincare (the same brand that won an Image Beauty Award in 2016).

Contributing Editor Melanie Morris opened the evening with a huge welcome to our audience, giving away two incredible spot prizes from Brooke and Shoals worth €100 each. The first panelist to take a seat on the couch was Endocrinologist, Dr. Mary Ryan. Mary provided the audience with a very interesting lesson on the physiology and medicine concerned with endocrine glands and hormones. When our hormones are down, our muscles are weak, leading to poor sleeping patterns and energy levels. She also emphasised the importance of listening to your body and learning to love yourself.

Second to join the couch was holistic practitioner and director of Zestivo, Elizabeth Whelan. Elizabeth taught us the importance of breathing properly, this drives our emotions, which impacts our mind and body. The first 16 seconds you wake up will determine how you feel for the rest of the day, so if you’re unhappy, create a list of affirmations that will resonate with you.

Last, but not least to join the couch was CORU registered dietitian, Paula Mee. Paula provided us with an extensive range of what foods to eat and what to avoid, emphasising the importance of plant-based food, anti-inflammatory oils and dietary fibres from wholegrains. Fruits and vegetables provide our bodies with plant protection components, the growth of good bacteria, antioxidants, and anti-inflammatories, which is a vital part of maintaining a healthy gut.

To finish off the evening, Elizabeth Whelan invited everyone to join her for a 10-minute meditation, to relax and unwind after a long and busy week. Everyone left The Westbury feeling buzzed, inspired, motivated and ready to take on the world! Four lucky attendees also left the event with a beautiful Clarin’s gift bag, and another lucky guest won an incredible Life Cleanse urban retreat worth €250.
