Hozier Headlines 2FM Xmas Ball In Aid Of ISPCC

19th Oct 2015

Just this morning, our very own Hozier took some time out, having just wrapped up a gig in Santa Barbara California, to speak to Keith, Jen and Bernard of RTE 2FM’s Breakfast Republic. As ever, the Bray native was sweet, friendly and self-deprecating. However the reason for the call was not just so Jennifer Maguire could interrogate him as regards his tour rider (he likes Tayto and Barry’s Tea, FYI); it was to announce a very special Christmas gig.

Hozier will be joined by Gavin James, The Riptide Movement, Little Green Cars, Ryan Sheridan, Hudson Taylor and many more acts that have yet to be announced, all in aid of the ISPCC. The gig will kick your Christmas party week off in the best possible fashion, at Dublin’s 3Arena on December 23rd. The event will be hosted by 2FM’s best, including Nicky Byrne, Jenny Green, Bernard O’Shea (who, by the way, we really hope gets his own singing slot), Jennifer Maguire, Tracy Clifford and more.

Tickets go on sale this Friday and for just €45, you’re getting one hell of a line-up for an incredible cause. As you know, the ISPCC is committed to keeping all children in Ireland safe, and do everything in their power to help children in difficult situations. The money raised from such events is helpful beyond belief, given that more than 80% of the charity’s funding comes from public donations. We’re a generous bunch here in Ireland, but we must keep it up so that the kids of today have the future they deserve.

According to the Independent, the charity’s 24-hour national listening service Childline responded to 460,000 contacts from children last year. For a country as small as Ireland, this is a staggering number and an enormous cause for concern. With events like this, we’ll all work together to make a difference.

Early Christmas present for your nearest and dearest? A no-brainer, if you ask us.
