Roisin Briggs, one of the pros at beautiful Dublin florist The Garden, shares an easy, pretty and low-key winter foliage tutorial.?

You will need:

    • A’selection of foliage, such as cypress, pine, oak leaf, cedar, eucalyptus?
    • Birch branches
    • Florist snips
    • A pretty’vessel

Step 1:?Strip the lower parts of the foliage so you have clean ends to work with.

Step 2: Select a cluster of birch branches which will act as the centrepiece of the arrangement.?You can find these in your own garden, or alternatively a wide range of autumnal foliage, berries and flowers will be available from your local florist.

Step 3: To this, add your selected foliage.?This will bring?colour and texture to the design. Add in each piece of foliage to the one central point. Turning the branches and foliage in your hand as you go will ensure an even arrangement.?Remember to keep the design loose and quite unstructured, which will complement?to the overall informal design.

Step 4:?Trim the lengths of the arrangement to the desired length, depending on the chosen vessel.

Step 5:?Finally, place it in your vessel and do any final tweaks to make sure everything looks even and balanced.

Top tip?By changing the water regularly and by misting the foliage often, this will ensure the arrangement lasts for the festive season.
