Art, more art and a well-deserved tipple: This week’s What’s On

While this weekend looks set to be a wet and windy one, there’s still no shortage of exciting events going on in the city. This week’s What’s On guide is pretty art-heavy, with exhibitions going on all over the city, and a French film fest to boot. But if whiskey and tunes are more your scene, we’ve got the perfect Sunday session to round things off. Happy weekend from IMAGE!

All weekend: Get in the sea at Dublin Salt

South Wall from Dublin Salt Exhibition

If you’re a big fan of the Dublin coastline (and I don’t know anyone who isn’t), head along to Studio 10 in Wicklow Street to see Dublin Salt. The exhibition has been a three-year passion project by photographic artist Peter Gordon, and shows 25 images from his book of photographs. From Skerries to Shankill and everything in between he searched for the perfect light, just the right tide, unique conditions, in an attempt to make a landmark collection of Dublin landscapes.

All weekend: Look at fresh prints at Halftone

Halftone, an initiative from the PhotoIreland Foundation, is a celebration of printed art in all its forms – illustrations, photography, typography and more. Having launched on the first of this month, the events continue until the 18th and is free to enter. Works by Monika Crowley, Brian Giles and Claire Lyons, among many others, all available to view at the Library Project in Temple Bar.

All weekend: Muse at Art Source

If Halftone wasn’t enough, how about 175 emerging and professional Irish artists showcasing paint, sculpture, photography, illustration and ceramics? Art Source is a fantastically big celebration of Irish art, with the opportunity to experience the works, speak to the artists behind them, and purchase a few if you so fancy it. The event also includes workshops for kids, so there’s something for everyone.

On Sunday: Head to the Sunday Sessions at the Irish Whiskey Museum

Trad music, whiskey and plenty of good craic with good people. The Sunday Sessions at the Irish Whiskey Museum is literally the recipe for the perfect Sunday. In partnership with Tullamore Dew, head along from 6 pm to 8 pm for a lovely close to the weekend, with plenty of opportunities to learn about the whiskey and the tunes that are playing. Running every Sunday until December 2.
