10 Things You Need To Keep Cosy This Winter

There is no escaping the fact that winter is here. Before we’ve gotten halfway through our day, the evenings start to darken and don’t even pretend you haven’t timed your heating to come on first thing in the (chilly) mornings. However, winter doesn’t always have to be doom and gloom. There is much to be said for the crisp winter mornings and cosy evenings surrounded by the fire. We don’t know about you, but we’re big fans of all things cosy. With this in mind, ensuring optimum cosiness will no doubt be high on everyone’s agenda as the weeks roll on, so we have put together a list of things you’ll need to stay warmed and snuggled throughout the colder season, whether you’re outside or indoors*

Hats (bobbles optional)

Hats help with a multitude in the cold weather. They can perk up any outfit with a splash of colour, they cover up any revealing signs that you may have missed your last hair appointment and they keep you warm and cosy. If like this writer, you haven’t been blessed with a ?hat head,? our woolly hats of choice‘should help you find the perfect one. We also love this pink one from Dunnes at just €6.

Scarfs/Snoods

A scarf/snood is essential if you’re to be out battling the elements. And in our cold climate, a wisp of a thing won’t do; you’ll need something sturdy, yet stylish to ensure optimum warmth and comfort (you’ll thank us when you don’t get a sore throat from hell). Luckily, we have the best of ?em rounded up here for you, but, in particular, we love, love this wool scarf from COS, €49

Gloves

A good pair of gloves is also essential unless you’re content to wander around with numb fingers. And just like your hat and scarf, you can buy a stylish pair that looks great and also keeps the feeling in your hands. Yay. We love this pair from ASOS, €14.22 And we have more stylish choices for you to take a look at here.

Fluffy Socks

We can’t begin to express our love for fluffy socks. They help our circulation no end and boy, do they keep us warm. Penneys always have loads of these to choose from and we also love these from?NEXT?at €7.50 per pair. We may never wear normal socks again.

Cosy Jammies

Though some of us haven’t yet done a Selena Gomez and worn our PJs outside the house, wearing our jammies inside is something we never tire of and makes us feel cosy as hell. Whether you’re looking for fluffy (Penneys is your only man for these) or chic, throw on your favourite pair and you’re sorted. We love these from the Rosie Huntington Whitely collection at M&S, €49

Favourite Warm Drink

Hot chocolate? Tea? Pumpkin Spiced Latte? Soup? The choice is yours so long as it tastes good and makes you feel warm and happy inside.

Favourite Winter Mug

And we all know that everything tastes even better in your favourite mug; the bigger, the better. We love this one from Penneys, €3

Hot Water Bottle

God bless hot water bottles. They might just be the only reason we can sleep when the real cold kicks in. Plus if they look like this, what’s not to love?

Medication/Vitamins/Advice To Ensure Protection From Illness

Being cosy only really works if you’re in the prime of your health. Colds and flu fly around at this time of year, so follow this excellent advice to ensure you’re taking care of yourself and staying as healthy as you can.

Winter-themed Movie Of Choice

Nothing adds to that feeling of cosiness like watching your favourite film when it is lashing outside. There’s no better time to start thinking about your favourite Christmas films. If you’re looking for inspiration, start with a classic. For yours truly, It’s A Wonderful Life does it every time.

*We apologise in advance if this?accidentally’makes you never want to leave the comfort of your home during the winter season.
