Ukrainian refugees at Gormanstown
Gormanston army camp in Co Meath will begin accommodating 150 Ukrainian refugees from today following difficulties in sourcing State-provided accommodation for new arrivals. According to the Government, people will stay in the tented accommodation, which has capacity for around 350, for a maximum of a week. Around 43,000 Ukrainian refugees have arrived in Ireland since the end of February.

High temperature warning
Today will continue warm over the eastern half of the country with highest temperatures of 22°C to 27°C or 28°C. However, it will be cooler and fresher elsewhere with highs of 16°C to 22°C. A largely dry start with bright or sunny spells but cloud will build from the west this morning, with outbreaks of showery rain spreading from the Atlantic through the day. There is the chance of an isolated thundery burst. Light winds will increase moderate to fresh northwesterly with the rain. Showery rain will continue in the east and south for a time tonight. However, it will be drier elsewhere with clear spells and just isolated light showers. Cooler than previous nights with lowest temperatures of 11°C to 14°C in a light to moderate northwest breeze. A Status Yellow High Temperature warning is in place for Leinster.

Elon Musk and Twitter will face off today in the first court hearing over the Tesla chief’s move to abandon their $44 billion buyout deal, a case with massive stakes for both sides. Twitter wants a judge to force Musk to complete the purchase, which he is trying to scrap over his allegations that the social media platform misled him about its tally of fake accounts.

Zelensky suspends 28 more security officials
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expanded the shakeup of his security services on Monday by suspending 28 more officials, a day after he dismissed two senior officials over allegations that their agencies harboured “collaborators and traitors”. Mr Zelensky said a “personnel audit” of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) was underway, and the dismissal of the 28 officials was being decided.“Different levels, different areas of focus. But the reasons are similar — unsatisfactory results of work,” Mr Zelensky said. On Sunday, he fired SBU chief Ivan Bakanov and prosecutor general Iryna Venediktova. Mr Zelenskyy, citing hundreds of criminal proceedings into treason and collaboration by people within their departments and other law enforcement agencies.
