Ireland’s greenhouse gases increase by 20 per cent
According to the bloc’s statistics office, Ireland had the third-biggest increase in EU greenhouse gas emissions among member states, behind Bulgaria and Malta. The Netherlands and Finland were the only member states that registered a decrease in emissions in the first quarter of 2022.
Man in custody in relation to Kerry murder
A man in his 50s remains in custody for questioning at Killarney Garda Station in relation to the murder of a 75-year-old woman who suffered a violent death. Miriam Burns was found in her home in Kerry on Monday afternoon. May she rest in peace.
‘Magic bullet’ drug
A ‘magic bullet’ drug is now available to breast cancer patients in Cork, Limerick, and Dublin hospitals as part of international clinical trials. The treatment targets the cancer directly, without affecting the body’s healthy cells, and has been found to increase by half the survival of patients with advanced breast cancers that have low levels of the HER2 protein.
