Audrey Hepburn’s Granddaughter Makes Debut

By Jeanne Sutton
13th Aug 2014

Audrey Hepburn had one of the most iconic faces of the twentieth century. The stunning actress captured the hearts of millions in movies like?Roman Holiday,?My Fair Lady and?Funny Face. Her Holly Golightly adorns the bedroom walls of most teenage girls and is responsible for many a costume party overlap. It was a nice surprise then to see her granddaughter make her modelling debut this week in?a series of photos for the high fashion pages of US Harper’s Bazaar.

Emma is the daughter of Sean Hepburn Ferrer, Audrey’s first child with actor Mel Ferrer. The Ferrers have lived a quiet life in Europe, letting Audrey’s legacy of humanitarian work with UNICEF in her later years speak for itself. Sadly Emma never met her grandmother, having been born a year after her death in 1993. “I remember seeing a photo of her jumping on a trampoline?I believe this was before I understood that she was famous. But I remember thinking that she looked like a friend I wish I could have had,”?she told Harper’s Bazaar.

In a lovely twist Emma was photographed by Michael Avedon, the grandson of Richard Avedon who shot some of the most familiar images of Audrey in existence. The actress served as his muse throughout the 1950s and Avedon even inspired Fred Astaire’s photographer character in the must-see?Funny Face. These images are a tribute to both their grandparents with playful tributes to their shared legacy. Emma is also pursuing a career in the arts but has yet to discern if she’ll pursue dancing, acting or modelling.
