What *actually* went down at Britney Spears’ wedding?

What *actually* went down at Britney Spears’ wedding?

Britney Spears got married, but it’s her ex husband that’s making headlines.

On Thursday, Britney Spears and her long-time partner Sam Asghari tied the knot with an intimate celebration of love at her Los Angeles home, surrounded by no more than 60 guests.

Her ex-husband, Jason Alexander, had other ideas.

Hours before the couple’s nuptials, Alexander reportedly live streamed himself crashing the wedding on his Instagram account. “So, here’s the inside scoop, guys,” he said as he made his way into Spears’ home as party planners were arranging wedding decorations.

“My name’s Jason Alexander. Britney invited me here,” he said. “Britney Spears invited me here. She’s my first wife, my only wife. I’m her first husband. I’m here to crash the wedding.”

TMZ have since reported that the live stream continued until there was a ‘physical struggle’, presumably between him and one of Spears’ security team, and Alexander was eventually restrained.

Britney Spears fans were quick to alert the songstress’ personal assistant when they saw her ex-husband’s live stream, and Vicky took to her own Instagram account to let fans know that everyone was safe. “I’ve done everything I can while being out of the country to keep everyone safe,” Vicky wrote.

Following the incident, Jason Alexander was arrested by the Ventura Sheriff’s Department and was charged with four misdemeanours. These charges include two counts of misdemeanour battery, one count of misdemeanour vandalism and one count of misdemeanour trespassing.

Having previously pleaded guilty to violating an order of protection and aggravated stalking against an unidentified woman, Alexander was given 11 months and 29 days of probation.

A childhood friend of Spears’, the pair were married for a grand total of 55 hours back in 2004. After their whirlwind nuptials at the Little White Wedding Chapel in Vegas, the marriage was annulled.

Eighteen years on from their just-over-two-day legally binding relationship, Alexander derailed the singer’s big day for no apparent reason. However, though he may have tried, Britney’s best laid plans went ahead, and it sounds like quite the beautiful ceremony.

According to inside sources, Britney walked down the aisle to Elvis Presley’s ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love’ wearing a Versace gown, surrounded by a select group of guests that included Madonna, Paris Hilton and Gwyneth Paltrow.

It has also been reported that Spears’ parents, sister Jamie-Lynn, and sons Sean Preston and Jayden James were not in attendance.

Britney Spears and Sam Asghari began their courtship back in 2016, after meeting on the set of her ‘Slumber Party’ music video. Announcing their engagement this past September, Asghari supported Spears through her conservatorship battle.

Asghari’s manager, Brandon Cohen, confirmed the marriage to PEOPLE, saying that he is “ecstatic this day has come”. He goes on to say that he is “so grateful to have Sam in [his] life and can’t wait for the future they will build together.”
