The Best Mascaras Ever?

The Best Mascaras Ever?

One question we hear too often here at IMAGE HQ is this: ‘what’s the best mascara?’ Well, we can’t quite give you a definitive answer on that one, as it’s always going to depend on the person and their lashes, but here we round up some our personal faves as well as the ones that sell out for a reason.

In no particular order…

Benefit They’re Real
– €26
This is one of my two personal favourites, the other one you’ll find below. Though we tend to stay away from these types of brushes, this one’s in a league of its own. It really does do what it says on the tin and manages to coat even those tiny lashes right in the corners. Lengthening, thickening, separating, volumising – you get it all minus the clumps and heavy feeling. It also doesn’t move from your lashes ’til you’re ready to remove. Bliss!

MAC False Lash – €24.50
You’ll always find a wand of this wonder product in editor Ellie Balfe‘s make-up bag. Why? Because it’s super black, it never flakes, you can really build up the colour without it caking on your lashes, and you’ve got the old reliable brush shape, tapered to perfection to genuinely coat every inch of your lashes.

Maybelline Colossal – €9.99
IMAGE Magazine’s beauty editor Liz Dwyer chooses to spend her pennies on this failsafe mascara that’s never let her down. It’s got a collagen enriched plumping formula that really will make your lashes look large, or, if you will, colossal.

Urban Decay Big Fatty
– €18
This is another favourite of mine. Again, it’s super thickening and lengthening and wakes your eyes right up. You really don’t need much else going on here to create a dramatic effect, your lashes will be that spidery.

Rimmel Wonder’Full – €9.99
IMAGE Magazine’s junior editor Jo Linehan is all about this budget beauty must have. Not only is it a great mascara, giving her that gorgeous, doe-eyed look, it also nourishes her lashes with its added argan oil.

Maybelline Great Lash Mascara – €7.49
An oldie but a goodie, there’s a reason this mascara remains on the tip of our tongues when it comes to recommendations. Recently, this firm favourite has gone one step further with ‘Great Lash BIG’, creating even more volume and strong, bold lashes. As with everything else on this list, you won’t find any clumps with this bad boy.

Yves Saint Laurent Volume Effet Faux Cils in High Density Black – €31
We’re huge fans of any of YSL’s mascaras. Plain and simple, they’re all brilliant and definitely worth considering if you want to add a little luxury to your make-up bag.

Lancome Hypnose – €27.50
This mascara rates highly with IMAGE Magazine editor Rosie McMeel as it works wonderfully to add definition to your lashes without looking like you’re wearing falsies. What’s more, you really don’t need all that much to coat your lashes.
