Gwyneth Paltrow Thinks We Should Be Doing THIS In The Shower

Gwyneth Paltrow Thinks We Should Be Doing THIS In The Shower

Here at IMAGE.ie, we’re about as open-minded as the next person, but we’re no so sure about this one! Actress and GOOP founder Gwyneth has had some pretty out-there ideas (steam clean for your vagina anyone), but we’ll have to have a good think before we attempt to take on board her latest advice: that you should pee while in the shower.

Apparently, it’s the key to “great sex, a flat tummy and the key to never laying in a supply of Depends.” Hmm. Yep, so when us ordinary folk pee in the toilets, we’re doing it all wrong, according to GOOP. Instead, you should be popping a squat in the shower, which automatically engages the pelvic floor to lengthen and tone your pelvic floor muscles, according to Lauren Roxburgh, a fascia and structural integrative specialist who’s quoted in the article.

Gross as it sounds (sorry, it does sound a bit gross), Refinery29, says that peeing in the shower isn’t all that uncommon, at least in the US. According to the site, sixty-two of Americans surveyed have peed in the shower. One in five (about 21 percent of these people) admitted to doing it every time they bathed. Now Gwyneth Paltrow’s GOOP can (happily or not) add themselves to this list.

So now we know how she gets in such great shape...!
So now we know how she gets in such great shape…!

Amid pictures and instructions of step-by-step exercises and posture ball recommendations in the ?post, ?The Secrets of the Pelvic Floor,’ we are told that this unusual method has very real, modern-day benefits: “It’s a basic human movement that we’ve stopped doing regularly. Getting in the habit of deep squatting (envision going to the bathroom in the woods) will actually help create proper alignment in the pelvis, raise pelvic awareness, and help lengthen an ‘uptight’ pelvic floor,” Roxburgh added.

And they are right about something, there are many benefits to giving your pelvic floor muscles a workout; strengthening your pelvic floor can improve your sexual performance and ability to orgasm; help with bladder and bowel control; stabilise your hip joints; and boost circulation in the pelvic area. “It’s the key to great sex, a flat tummy, and the key to never laying in a supply of Depends,” Roxburgh told Goop.

But while we’re all for improving our pelvic muscles, we’re not sure relieving ourselves in the shower is the best (or most hygienic) way to do this?

What do you think?
